Back to the Grind...

We have started school again this semester. Our class load is nearly equivalent to what we took last semester but we're starting to get more into "medicine" and what we're here for. Last semester was a lot of basic classes (i.e. gross anatomy, physiology, intro to master's projects, epidemiology, etc.).

Our two toughest courses this semester are pathology (study of diseases/"applied physiology") & pharmacology (drugs). I am really enjoying pathology since a lot of is repetitive from my degree at UNMC - medical technology. The class is taught by a pathologist (which would be my dream job in another life) and she is a great teacher. Pharmacology is interesting but will be quite challenging as we continue to learn the basics and get into different types of drugs for specific disease types.

Other classes include differential diagnosis (diagnosing patients), professional issues, culture & diversity and oh, let's not forget about our master's project. Ew. We have partners for our projects and the final draft will be due in one year.

Matt is looking for a job & somewhere to live. It has been nice having a family member living in the same city!

I am going to Austin this weekend for my last 3-day wkend 'get-away' for a while. As the semester progresses, I will again prioritize my social events (i.e. friends' engagement parties, showers, etc.) and buckle down with school.

Thanks for the continued prayers & love. Have a blessed week!
